What Is a Practical Lash Study:

Lash studies are an in-depth investigation, and a hands on application, of understanding the theory and practical taught through our Online training course. The lash study is shown through photographic evidence and written document, the ability to apply lash extensions properly to a real model.

How to do a Practical Lash Study:

  1. Watch the videos and study the Manual thoroughly. Take notes as you desire. Become familiar with your lash tools, using a mannequin.
  2. Then begin the procedure on a model, applying the research from the videos and manual. Perform a +90% Full, Full set application.
  3. Take 9 Before & After photos and one (1) video. (Please see Picture specifications below).
  4. Please email each practical lash study stating:
    1. Your first and last name
    2. The date you purchased the course.
    3. The Practical Lash Study number you are sending. (Example: Lash Study 2 or Resubmission of Lash Study 1).
    4. Details of the curls, thickness, and map technique used.
    5. Document your experience, of preparing for the model, performing the application and after application. We want to know the good things and the hard things.
    6. Identify 2-5 key areas of struggle
    7. Talk about the changes needed, or solutions to building the weakness into strengths. If needed re watch videos, for extra reminders and tips.
  5. Put steps 3,4,5,& 6 in an email to [email protected] for submission.
  6. Wait for a response before starting your next Lash Study.

The Purpose of (3) Practical Lash studies:

The purpose is to apply your online training and manual research with 3 different live models, to demonstrate your understanding and ability. 
We know that lashing different clients can be super challenging. Our goal is to limit those challenges by building a strong foundational skill set to prepare you for real life client situations.

​Practical Lash Study Specifiactions:

  • There is no time limit to complete all 3 practicals.
  • Three (3) Practical Lash Studies must be passed by an Ida Jane Lash Master and performed by the student to earn a certification.
  • The Practical Studies will be submitted via email to [email protected]
  • The study will be reviewed and assessed during 5 business days by an Ida Jane Lash Master.
  • Ida Jane Lash Masters make the final call on submissions, pass or fail.
  • You are granted 2 RESUBMISSIONS, for each practical study.
  • After 2 failed resubmissions, the student will need to schedule free additional training via online support.
  • Remember every person has different natural lashes and challenges. Please choose a good model to show your understanding and ability of lashing. Each Practical Lash study must be on a different model.
  • Send one Practical Lash Study via email, at a time. DO NOT send all studies at the same time. An Ida Jane Lash Master may need to have you focus on a specific area or technique before the next lash application and lash study is submitted.

Do NOT:

  • Do NOT use thicker than 0.15mm for your lash studies. Thickness that exceeds .15mm is an automatic FAIL.
  • No Flat lashes
  • Do NOT use longer than a 12mm. Longer than 12mm will FAIL.
  • Do Not use CC or D curl. Use J, B or C.

Picture Specifications

We require 9 before and after photos and 1 video. If you are unable to include pictures and video, submissions will result in a fail. 
  • Please review the online video on How to 
  • All 9 photos and one (1) video submitted, must be clear with focus on the lashes, not the forehead or nose.
  • Photos must be zoomed in to the lashes, with good lighting.
  • Gel pads need to remain on the bottom lashes for photos. If the gel pads are not on the bottom lashes, the bottom lashes will show through and not reveal your true lash techniques.
  • No Editing the photos. No editing the skin to make smooth or coloration for imperfections.
  • MUST send the photos of your Practical. Photos need to be similar to the examples below.
  • Do not crop or resize the photos. Send the original format so the photo quality remains high resolution.

Individual Isolated Lash

A short video of the eyes closed with a gel pad on the bottom lashes while the eyelash extensions are being brushed with a mascara wand. Please show that the mascara wand is able to brush through the lashes root to end, with no stickies. The lashes need to move individually.
