How do you work on your business not just in your business?I remember many years ago, a man at church was talking about- how running your own business is hard. I ignorantly thought... It's not that hard. At the time, I was a full time lash artist, out of my college apartment in Alaska. All I did was: see clients, do their lashes(these were my beginning days, so I'm not even going to say they were done amazing. I needed more education), created relationships, and made great money. I was ignorantly bliss... The saying goes "you quit your 9 to 5 to work 24/7, as an entrepreneur". Its true. I literally told myself the other night, I have a bed time of 9:30pm now. The next morning, I got up at 4;30am to start working on a blog... That same night, I stayed up till 11:30pm, frustrated at my computer, finally throwing in the towel. Dang it! I didn't stick to my bedtime.
Business is hard, especially when you are pushing yourself/business, trying to grow or when you are needing to hire someone. There are so many elements to running a business. It can be even harder when you are a one woman show. Recently, I decided to hire things out, when I don't need to do them myself, for the business to succeed. I hired an Email Marketer! Yay!!! I took a leap of faith on someone to help me create something even bigger. Before I decided to hire, I have been the one who created my website. I also tried to start an email system, run my instagram, create Online Training Videos, run my amazon business, create a product line.... blah blah blah. I know you get it. The list goes on, not to mention the things I do for my family and church life, etc. My to do list and goals for the business is forever long and often times, I forget who wrote an amazing review that I need to highlight, or the product I need to edit the packaging for, or that an automated email gets sent out, when I post a new blog. I bet you have a huge to do list too! If this is the case, then you need to listen to Sheila. If you don't already listen/follow Sheila Bella, I recommend that you do. I had listen to her talk about how she manages everything on a system. This system allowed her to share all of her on going projects, her to do lists and delegate them with her team members. So, today I started on a system for business growth and helping me stay organized. The App I just downloaded is called Asana. I will have to come back to leave a full review on the app and if it's helping. My goal moving forward is to write all of my to-do list in the app, to help me move the needle on my business. In return, I hope this will help me stay focused and not let things fall through the cracks, because I forgot. I am a business woman, not "just a lash artist" afterall. I can do this! You can too! Here's to hiring when we need help or pivoting, so we can move the needle to do better!
