Do you have paperwork? I have been shocked at the amount of lash artists who don’t have paperwork. I love going to different lash artists to get to know others, and learn about their lash journey. As lash artists we are creators, and sometimes the business side gets neglected. If you’re like most artists, our minds don’t think/know how to run the business and why paperwork is necessary. Paperwork is necessary. Having paperwork for your clients gets you started on the right foot and headed in the right direction for an amazing client to Artist relationship. Paperwork does a few things for you:
Shows you as an expert. Shows you care about the client. Avoids unnecessary allergic reactions. Eliminates client retention issues. Allows the artist to understand underlying issues. Allows the artist to know the clients previous lash artist issues. Allows the artist to create the desired style. Covers the artists butt if there is a legal issue.

You’re either making money or loosing money. Do you know which side you are on today? Let’s know our numbers so we can be on the winning side, of making money! Money is energy. When we know our numbers (money), we know how to make more of it and keep it or how to use it the best, for us. Look at your bank statements and/or how you track your income and expenses. I like to use Quickbooks for my taxes and it also helps me see my monthly subscriptions, my consistent expenses and income. Hi 👋 this is me working on the back end of my business while I balancing mom life. Now to figure out your numbers and knowing how to price your services, I recommend my friend, Jazmine’s downloadable guide on figuring out your pricing. This is a great guide to knowing your numbers and figuring out how to get the best income for all your services. Instead of looking to see what other lash artists are priced at, do this guide. 👇🏼

When you are pricing your lash services or salon services, you will also want to consider HOW the service is priced… for example: pricing each service based on time, or pricing your services based on the number of weeks a client has last seen you, etc. I go more into detail in this blog post: How to Price Your Lash Services. Let’s set your lash business up for success! Make sure your business is legal and ready to run smoothly by implementing the information below. 1. Set up a business name and register it with your state. You can set up your business as a sole proprietor, Limited Liability Company (LLC) and Corporation. Need help with these steps check out Legal Zoom. You will then get a State Tax Number or EIN, this is like your social security number for your business. Then when you have your state ID number or EIN take it to open a bank account. 2. Open a Bank Account specifically for your business. I highly recommend to open 3 accounts. One for the income of your business. The second for putting money aside that you think you’ll use for paying taxes. The third account would be you your savings to use to continue to build the business. It’s extremely important to keep your business and personal finances separate, especially when it comes time to sort taxes. 3. Policy’s. Did you get paperwork and policy information in your lash training? In the Ida Jane Training, Morgan gives you her policies and paperwork to set you up for success. Before you ever take a client or model you need to have policies, boundaries and paperwork set. Understand the policies you have in place for accepting payment, form of communication, medical forms, cancellations, Covid, photo releases, etc. Let’s get your lash business legal and ready to rake in the dough. Do you have your pricing structure set up and understand how much to charge?
