How to gain lash clients

Are you struggling to gain clients?
Do you want to build your clientele?

When I first started lashing I did my mom and sister’s lashes, right away and then was like … hmm now what?! I need more people!
I was then able to build my clientele to 55 consistent clients coming back every 3+ weeks.

I then moved from Alaska to Minnesota and had to start my clientele all over again. I did it again when I moved to Arizona. This is when I realized I knew how to grow a clientele from zero clients. When I would become fully booked the next thing I would do was raise my prices to push away clients. I was always taken back when clients were willing and wanting to continue to come to me, as their lash artist. What a blessing!

I want to share with you 5 tips you can do right now, to gain a client or hopefully a few.
My lash work over the years!

  1. Post on Facebook market place. Post a picture of your work or say that you do lashes in Facebook market place. You can even go to Facebook groups that are in your surrounding area. You can say “hey I just moved to the area and I’m looking to build my clientele if anybody would like lashes, please contact me.”
  2. Contact 5+ lash artists in your area and reach out as a friend. If you contact another lash artist and their response is less than kind, don’t take it personal. There is plenty of fish in the sea and success to be had, they just haven't realized it yet. When reaching out you can say something like “Hi (find their name), my name is Morgan(insert your name). I am also a lash artist in Queen Creek. Your lash work is beautiful (insert genuine compliment here). I noticed your profile says you no longer take new clients. I am actually trying to build my clientele so if you are unable to take care of a new client I would love the referral. 💕” I usually add a few emoji’s so they know the happy vibe I’m trying to send. I genuinely want to be a friend to them and help the lash artist. If the lash sister is taking new clients I would remove the sentence “I noticed your profile says you no longer take new clients. I am actually trying to build my clientele so” that way the lash sister knows if she is sick or something came up for her, in her life, she doesn’t need to stress about taking care of her clients. She can easily refer them to you for their due fill and then they would resume appointment with her when she was ready to resume. Yes, it’s a bummer you won’t keep them but 1. You made money from them 2. You had another opportunity to sharpen your skills as a artist and business owner. 3. Now they know who you are! They have lash artist options and if they ever have issues with their retention or lash artist they can come to you or refer their friends.
  3. Collaboration. Reach out to other professionals. There are so many ways you can collaborate with others. Don’t be afraid to think out of the box. Here are some ideas. Contact makeup artists, hairstylists, photographers, yoga instructors, waitresses. See if they would be interested in referring clients for events their clients may be having or have them be a model for you. Then they will get to know you, love you and the service. They will either become a client or won’t. If they don’t they may refer clients to you.
  4. Set up. Set up your Instagram or tic tok or whatever you believe will help showcase your work and personality. When I started lashing Instagram was new so I used it as a portfolio for my lash work. I didn’t use it to gain clients because at the time I didn’t know how and hashtags were just becoming a thing! hah Use hashtags that clients would use to search for you. For example: #queencreeklashartist #azlashartist #queencreeklashextensions #volumelashesqueencreek etc.
  5. Flyer/ business card or poster on the corner. You may think this is an old fashion way of drumming business and it is. But it has worked for me. Create a flyer with pull off strips that have your information on it. Take this flyer and put it at your local coffee shops, bus stops or wherever you are allowed to put flyers and or business cards. You can also leave your business cards at salon locations that don't offer lash extensions or estheticians who haven't taken the opportunity to learn lashes.
In order to gain clients it’s all about getting your name out there. People need to know who you are, that you exist as an option for them and then you have a chance to prove you’re awesome. You are awesome and the world needs to know. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. You don’t have to jump with both feet, just dip your toe. Who knows maybe you’ll eventually have both feet in the water enjoying the opportunities that are rewarded when you put yourself out there.
