Create a maternity leave plan, as a lash ARTIST.Need a maternity leave plan? Can you lash while pregnant? Did you get pregnant during COVID? I did. 🙋🏼♀️ If you are a lash mama, it’s not always easy... I'm right there with you! I have lashed through all 3 of my pregnancies. This is what helped me during my experience: Disclaimer: Let me start by saying I have always enjoyed being pregnant and have been blessed with healthy pregnancies & deliveries. Yes, you can lash while pregnant but everyone’s body is different. Don’t over push yourself.Your royal throneHave a cushioned seat. My original seat during my last pregnancy was just not enough. My legs would go numb. Adding extra cushion to my seat helped, plus adjusting my body more frequently. TimePlan extra time in your lash sets. In the beginning of my pregnancies, I get nauseous. Gum or a cough drop usual helps me, plus the distraction of lashing and music. Though there are times when you can’t ignore the nausea. I’m sorry if this happens to you. It’s not fun! Run to the bathroom. Communicate/shareCommunication with clients is so important for a continued lash artist to client relationship. We want your lash client to come back to you as soon as your doors are open again. Prepare your clients for an early maternity leave just in case. The reality is, we don’t know when the baby is coming and how healthy we will all be. During my appointments, I tried to keep my clients up to date on my maternity plan. I’d let them know what would happen if my best case scenario happened and my worse case, this way we would know the plan for both. PreperationA Lash Artist needs to be taking notes on their lash client... curls, diameter, size of the fans etc. It would be best to have your clients lash profile card up to date with style and information. Also have another lash artist informed about referring your clients to her while you are on maternity leave. It would be important to know who you clients are going to so you can trust the quality of their work (making it easier to do lashes when you get back) and to take care of your beloved clients. I would feel horrible if my clients felt like they were left high and dry and not well taken care of. Truly take care of them and find them a few different lash artist options. Find lash artists that you trust.
Unsure about how to find a lash artist you trust to send your clients to? If you are unsure, I bet your clients would most likely feel the same way. Take care of them, do this extra step for them. If you are nervous about losing clients during maternity leave, I would highly suggest to download my FREE Ebook- How To Become A Booked Lash Artist. In the ebook, I share my tips on retaining clients with loyalty and referral programs. Lastly, Congratulations on your new little one!!! I hope everything will go smoothly for you, your lash business and your family.
