Doing other lash artist's work....Do you do it? Or not?
When a new client books for a fill I instantly think, "Do they know what they are booking for? Or are they coming from another lash artist and need a fill? Oh great... what was their other lash artist like?"
A few months ago, I would have said "Yes, I will take on other lash artist's work." I was excited to educate the client and help them on their lash journey. Extensions can be amazing. Everyone should get to experience a life of having great lashes. That experience of education, understanding how lashes work, and having great lashes, is what I pride myself on providing for my lash clients. Until....

Just recently I had a few new clients that were from other lash artists. I went through my paper work and education pieces with them, just like I would any new client. But for these clients, I have to explain that I have no idea what the previous lash artist taught them. Was the info Correct? Or were they never educated at all? I never want to assume. Education is powerful.

Embarking on these client's lashes was horrific. I have had botched lashes before, that I was able to help. When you save a lash friend, your heart is empowered! I always feel inspired to save the world (Plus, I want to change the bad rep our lash industry currently holds). But sometimes lashes are beyond repair. You have to have the client go to lash rehab. To read more on lash rehab click here.

As a lash artist, what is your policy? Do you take on the challenge? The down fall of taking on another lash artist's work is:
  • The first appointment you never know what you're going to see.
  • If the lashes are able to be saved, do you perform a full removal or work through it with your tweezers? Do you charge them for a removal? Sometimes doing a full removal or working through the lashes can take a really long time depending on the amount of glue and lashes stuck together.
  • Doing a fill for this client may not be the result they are wanting or are used to. This client may not be a returning client.
  • Performing a lash service on damaged lashes, usually isn't fun.

So many questions to think about. Moving forward I now have a policy for taking on other lash artists. Figuring out the steps and process I wanted to take had me thinking of so many questions. It makes me curious do you have a policy? I want to hear from you.
