Do you have paperwork? I have been shocked at the amount of lash artists who don’t have paperwork. I love going to different lash artists to get to know others, and learn about their lash journey. As lash artists we are creators, and sometimes the business side gets neglected. If you’re like most artists, our minds don’t think/know how to run the business and why paperwork is necessary. Paperwork is necessary. Having paperwork for your clients gets you started on the right foot and headed in the right direction for an amazing client to Artist relationship. Paperwork does a few things for you: Shows you as an expert. Shows you care about the client. Avoids unnecessary allergic reactions. Eliminates client retention issues. Allows the artist to understand underlying issues. Allows the artist to know the clients previous lash artist issues. Allows the artist to create the desired style. Covers the artists butt if there is a legal issue. Where to get paperwork? Let’s talk about the different kinds you need and why:
Next, adding paperwork to your new client consults. Digital or physical paperwork. If you have a booking system you should be able to add digital paperwork for the client to fill out upon booking. Before I had a booking system I did everything via physical paperwork. I would have it printed out on a clipboard, ready for the client to fill out upon arrival. After it’s filled out, I then go over each section with the client to reconfirm and take this opportunity to educate them on why I’m asking these details for each section and question. I add 15-20 minutes to do paperwork and lash education. Then begin with the consultation. Do you have detailed client forms? I love when a new client comes to me especially with fresh lashes because I love to document all the details about their natural lashes. I measure the lashes, document how many layers, the natural projection of their lashes, their natural curl, natural gaping or angled lashes. Once I evaluate all the information and the desires of the client we are able to have a clear game plan that will be stunning for the clients features with having lash extensions. Need paperwork?
