To Mist or Not to Mist

If you have ever gotten eyelash extensions, you’ve most likely been told to stay away from any moisture for the first 24-48 hours. A new technology found in the lash industry says otherwise. As a lash artist, our main goal is to give clients beautiful eyelash extensions in the most pleasant and relaxed way possible. With the nano mister, you can now get your lashes wet within the first 4 hours, although it’s still recommended to wait until the next morning.

The nano mister not only helps to cure the adhesive, but it also helps to eliminate any burning sensations clients may feel both during and after the adhering process. Cyanoacrylate, an active ingredient in all eyelash adhesives, must polymerize, also known as the curing or drying process of eyelash extensions. In order for the adhesive to fully cure it needs hydrogen, usually obtained through the moisture or H2O in the air. By using the fine mist, the nano mister provides the natural environment in which the lashes need to cure without wetting them altogether.

The nano mister is designed to assist in the process of curing the lashes fully in a shorter amount of time. The nano mister sprays tiny water droplets over the lashes to ensure the curing process happens evenly throughout the eyelashes. To use the nano mister, spray consistently over the lashes about 6-10 inches away for no longer than 20 seconds (or until your nano mister automatically turns off). You should use it at the end of your application or multiple times throughout the appointment if your client is more sensitive to the adhesive.

While you can use any type of water with the nano mister, it is always best to use distilled water for many reasons. It helps to keep lashes clean and at a natural pH, as opposed to other water such as tap water. It also helps to prevent mineral deposits and calcium buildup along the sides of the nano mister (along with cleaning it regularly). Finally, it helps to keep the nano mister fresh and clean of any distasteful smells.
