I asked someone if I should be an entrepreneur, their response was, “Don’t do it because it didn’t work out well, for my cousin. He went bankrupt." Another said “Don’t try a club sport because it will limit you in your athletic abilities and the likelihood of getting recognized for a collegiate sport was slim since their niece had this experience." Everyone can tell you their doubts and fears on why something won’t work. It works for those who don’t believe in the fears and do it anyways. Success can be had when you hire a coach who has been where you are and will take you where you want to go. Lashes are just a trend... You will never be able to support your family by just doing lashes... Just doing lashes.. JUST. hmm. Lash Extensions are amazing! I'm here to tell you everything about lashes and how you can definitely support a family on JUST doing lashes. You will love your career and have a passion for lashes when you are taught how to do lashes properly and be a boss babe. Being a boss babe and a lash artist go hand in hand for success! Yes, It is true!Your tweezers can expire. It depends on the type of material and how the tweezers are treated for color and durability. If your tweezers have changed color, showing wear and tare, please leave a comment below.
How do you work on your business not just in your business?I remember many years ago, a man at church was talking about- how running your own business is hard. I ignorantly thought... It's not that hard. At the time, I was a full time lash artist, out of my college apartment in Alaska. All I did was: see clients, do their lashes(these were my beginning days, so I'm not even going to say they were done amazing. I needed more education), created relationships, and made great money. I was ignorantly bliss...
You are so busy, you forgot to eat. Client after client with no break. Did you drink any water? Go get your drink right now, to sip, while you read this post, for yummy meals to make, for the rest of the week! It is so important to take care of yourself and fuel up be the best for your clients and your family. I wish I could bring a meal over to you and your family because I know you are jam packed with clients right now, especially after COVID19. Since we don't live close by, this is the best thing I have come up with to help you in your busy days. I have personally tried these recipes and love them!
Our lashes are effected by many variables like: hormonal, nutrition, environment, etc. As the season changes, our environment does too, unless you are inside all day lashing, but usually our clients are not. So it is our lash duty to prep the client for the change in season. We cover how to tell them, how it affects them and how to help your client through the season change without loosing them as a client.
Doing other lash artist's work....Do you do it? Or not? When a new client books for a fill I instantly think, "Do they know what they are booking for? Or are they coming from another lash artist and need a fill? Oh great... what was their other lash artist like?" A few months ago, I would have said "Yes, I will take on other lash artist's work." I was excited to educate the client and help them on their lash journey. Extensions can be amazing. Everyone should get to experience a life of having great lashes. That experience of education, understanding how lashes work, and having great lashes, is what I pride myself on providing for my lash clients. Until....
Image by Jessica Bowers-Kezler, @lashedbyjessbk #lashrehab Let's Talk about it. The top picture IS NOT my work, that's how my client came to me. See how short her lashes are? That's from cluster lashes, they were way too heavy and definitely not isolated. Fast forward to the bottom picture. MY WORK (pre-fill)... She's been rocking a light set and came in for a fill after religiously using a lash serum. It takes time but she's bounced back and working towards her desired look! Make sure your lashes artist is properly trained in adjusting the weight of the lashes and can perfectly isolate for optimum lash extension results. If you have damaged lashes, sometimes, the natural lashes can recover with lash extensions and other times they are beyond lash-able. Is that a word? Lash-able... it should be, because when natural lashes have had so much damage from too much weight, too much glue, lashes glued together, from improper application, you can't lash the natural lash any more, or at least you shouldn't! In order to have a fighting chance, at saving the natural lashes, you must go through lash rehab. By save, I mean, make the natural lashes' health better. Natural lashes are not guaranteed. When natural lashes are in danger, they will not continue to grow. Natural lashes will stop growing in, all together. It is like evolution. You are telling your body you do not need lashes when they keep getting plucked out (I wish other body hair was like this). This plucking can happen with a bad lash job, and after appointment and appointments for damage.
It can be difficult to work on a client with fluttery eyes. Some clients don’t realize that as they are fluttering their eyes, their eyes are opening often. When a client has their eyes slightly open during an application this can cause an irritation for the client during the appointment. The client may mention they are having a stinging/hurting feeling. This feeling is coming from the fumes of the glue that can be too strong for the eyes. Once the glue cures the fumes dissipate which allows the client to open their eyes at the end of the appointment and not have any stinging. But how do we deal with a client that does not close their eyes completely or a client that is constantly fluttering their eyes?
